Verses of the Day:
(Younger Students)
We have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men. – 1 Timothy 4:10
(Older Students)
This is love; not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for your sins. – 1 John 4:10
Did You Know?
- There were a few “national gods” that everyone in Egypt worshipped, but most were local gods. Each city had their own special god. This god was kept in the a little room in the city’s temple.
- Every day the temple priest would enter the god’s room. He would wash the god and dress it in new clothes. Then he would leave food for the god in case it would get hungry.
- As the priest left the room he would brush away his footsteps so the room was perfect. He would always leave the door open so the god could look out and see what was going on in the city.
- The people were fearful of these gods. They did not have a personal relationship with their gods. They could not talk to them like a friend. They were not alive or powerful; instead they were made of stone and rock.
- God is the only one true God who always keeps his promises.
- Even today people place their trust in “gods” like money or friends to keep them happy and safe.
- God’s Word is the only source of truth. God is always working in our lives, directing our steps.

Talking It Over:
Letter to the Editor:
Dear God,
My teacher at VBS says you want to be our best friend. I think that would be great! What do I have to do?
Signed,
Wondering Child
——————————————–
Dear Child,
I love you so much, but your sin keeps us from having a relationship. That is why my Son, Jesus, had to die. He didn’t have any sin in him, but he took yours and took the punishment for them so you didn’t have to. He is offering you the free gift of forgiveness. All you need to do is ask for it.
When you receive this gift, you and I can begin a relationship that goes on forever. I will be your best friend. But remember, I want to live in a clean home. I want to deal with those “little sins” that want to squeeze in every day. Let me take care of them. Don’t try to ignore them or hide them from me. Right now, talk to me and let me clean up your heart.
Love,
God
