AWANA

“Questions/Answers”

Q: What is happening with Awana?
A: We can only use the building at 50% capacity, so we need to find a way to limit enrollment to 50% per evening. So we have divided our club in half.

Q: When can my child come?
A: TNT (both 3rd-6th girls and boys) will attend the 1st and the 3rd Wednesdays of each month. Sparks (grades k-2nd) will attend the 2nd and the 4th Wednesdays of each month.

Q: Is Awana open to kids outside our church?
A: Absolutely! We encourage children to invite their friends. Just make sure they know the right weeks to come?

Q: What about Cubbies?
A: Cubbies will not meet this year because of room limitations.

Q: Will the evening look the same?
A: Each Wednesday, the group will divide in half into evening groups with half or our time playing games and connecting with our leaders in the gym with games and the sanctuary with great stories and object lessons, and learning a verse together. We will still be having theme nights and the chance to earn extra prizes.

Q: What if we want our child to work on his/her book independently? We want to go for the Timothy Award?
A: There is definitely an opportunity for those who desire to work independently on their book. They can recite verses;
  • During the large group verse time
  • To their parents
  • On Sunday morning during Children’s Worship time
Kids still earn all of the regular Awana awards, they just need to bring their books on Wednesday to show our fabulous record-keeping team.

Q: How do we drop off and pick up?
A: We are trying to decrease the number of extra individuals in the building on Wednesday evening to increase everyone’s safety. Parents who are dropping off, are encouraged to do so under the overhang at the front of the church. They should also form a line for safe pick up at the same place. If a parent is coming to volunteer for the evening, they should park in the back parking lot and enter with the child using the lower door. All children will be given a temp check before joining for the evening. Individuals with temperatures over 100.4 will not be allowed to stay.

Q: Does my child need to wear a mask?
A: Masks will not be required during vigorous game time. Masks will not be required during vigorous game time. Hand sanitizer will be used before and after game time and equipment will be sanitized between groups. Social distancing will be used in the sanctuary using “sit spots” to help children remember.

Q: How do I register?
A: You can register by returning to the Children’s Ministry page; a link is available at the top of the page. Dues can be paid and books purchased while registering. Books will be given to your child the first evening of AWANA.

Q: How can I help?
A: Here are three ways you can help!
  1. Pray for a great year and for God’s protection for our kids and workers.
  2. If your child is sick, please keep him/her home.
  3. Volunteer! Please call the church office at 235-5513 and let us know with what age you would like to work. One of the Awana directors will give you a call to talk. All workers are required to pass a background check and the first year will work alongside a mentor.
